Finn and I (and Freya) made zucchini bread this arvo -
perhaps it was a little too late in the arvo as when I asked Finn what he would like for dinner, he replied 'cake' in the most obvious manner - as though it was the most ridiculous question I could have asked. I wish I had the innocent logic of a three year old. X

stormy weather
It was a stinking hot day on Sunday - hot and windy - the worst type of weather - you can't go outside because it's too windy but it is too sunny and hot to be inside.... Anyway, the wind died down a little by the arvo so we went down to the beach out the back of our place. Here are a few pics of the beautiful storm rolling in.

cool young jordie!
Well, jordie lane's gig definitely met and even exceeded my high expectations! he was fantastic. bahas tacos in rye sounded like a bit of an odd venue but it was really very cool.
jordie started out doing a few songs solo style then after a some funny chat, started up with the band. the ballads were gorgeous and the dancing songs rocked. as the margaritas and sangria took hold of the audience more and more people started to listen and groove. a dance floor sprung up in the middle of the restaurant and once jordie sung a few covers, including a great version of sheryl crow's "are you strong enough to be my man", the crowd was hooked. the band seemed to be having a good time too - to the point where they stated that they had drunk too much to drive back to Melbourne and asked if could anyone put them up for the night - a lot of ladies volunteered!
$45 for three hours jordie, a three course dinner and a floor show put on by rye's young hip kids and its older divorcees - how can you go wrong!

the first post
Well, I've finally decided start a blog. I've been thinking about it for a while - adding up the pros and cons, questioning why would anyone want to read my thoughts and ideas... anyway, I think I'll just treat it like no one is reading it apart form me, then I won't get too self-conscious... This blog will mostly be about what I've been making, what I've been listening to and reading, and my general thoughts I guess... Just see how it goes.
Firstly, I've been haunting the Peninsula op-shops lately, hunting down old fabrics, sheets, tea towels etc to make some stuff. I feel quite inspired at the moment. However, it is finding the time to put my thoughts into action that is the problem (and starting a blog isn't helping I guess...). Anyway, I've made a few little skirts which have turned out ok...
Although I think I better start taking a little more of a 'professional' photo rather than just hanging it off the side of my couch...
The music that has been inspiring me is the new one by Jordie Lane - Blood Thinner. www.jordielane.com
He's heading down this way for the weekend so I'm looking forward to seeing him live... Great lyrics - a mix of folk, gospel and a little bluegrass... Right up my alley!
Anyway, that first post was relatively painless! Until next time... X
